FAQS

Bookings & Operating Hours

How do I book?
Hit the “Book Online” button and follow the prompts. That’s the system.

What length haircut should I book?
Book based on the length you’re walking in with, not the end goal (unless it’s a buzz cut).
If you guess wrong, we’ll figure it out, but booking correctly keeps things running on time.

I don’t know what I want.
Cool! Let's not
 wing it in the chair.
Book a complimentary consultation, bring references, and we’ll sus it out properly; style, maintenance, and what’s actually realistic for you.
No cutting on the same day. This is about getting it right.

What are your hours?
Tuesday to Saturday. Hours are listed on the homepage.
Those are working hours, not “walk in whenever” hours. If it’s not available online, call, otherwise it’s not available.

Why do you “stack” bookings?
Because I run this solo and I’m not sitting around waiting for appointments to maybe happen.
I group bookings together so when I’m in, I’m fully in. When I’m off, I’m handling the business or not here. Simple.

Queerness & Gender Neutrality

Why do you ask for pronouns?
Because I don’t assume.
You can add them to your profile, or not—it’s your call. If not, I’ll default to they/them respectfully.

Why is pricing based on length, not gender?
Because hair has length, not a gender.
Short hair takes less time than long hair—it’s that simple.
It’s fair, transparent, and removes the usual salon nonsense.

  • Cuts → based on length

  • Blow-dries → one price

  • Colour → based on service (roots/full)

Is this only for queer clients?
No—but it is a queer-led space.
I specialise in gender-affirming work, but anyone respectful is welcome. If that’s not your vibe, there are plenty of other salons.

Pricing & Payments

How much will it cost?
Prices listed are a starting point.
Final cost depends on your hair, time, and product use.
You’ll always get a quote before we start—no surprises.

Do you take deposits?
Not usually.
Your card is stored by a third party when booking, but you won’t be charged unless you cancel late or don’t show up.

How can I pay?
EFTPOS, cash, Mastercard, Visa, Amex, Afterpay.

Cancellations & Late Policy

Cancellation policy?
Minimum 24 hours notice. More is better.
Late cancellations = fee. Respect my time, I’ll respect yours. If It's outside of business hours and your call isn't answered, DM us on our instagram @skullcandhairshop

Running late?
Let me know.
If it cuts into your appointment, we either adjust the service or reschedule.

No-shows?
You’ll be charged 100% of the booking.
Future bookings may require prepayment.

Appointments & Expectations

Do you take walk-ins?
No guarantees. Book ahead.

Can I bring someone?
It’s a one-on-one space.
There’s a small waiting area, but this isn’t a group hang.

Do you work with all hair types?
Most, yes.
I’m confident with curls up to around 3C. Beyond that, I’ll refer you to someone better suited—because you deserve the right specialist.

Colour Services

Do I need a consultation?
For big changes or corrections—yes, strongly recommended.
This isn’t a “let’s see what happens” situation.

Can you fix another salon’s work?
Usually—but it depends.
Timing, cost, and outcome vary. Start with a consultation.

Aftercare & Results

Will you show me how to style it?
Yes. You’ll leave knowing how to actually manage your hair.

Do you offer refunds?
No.
But if something’s off, contact me within 7 days and I’ll fix it. That’s the deal.

What about products?
If something’s not working for you, reach out—I can usually swap it for something better suited.
